  Tried to get my SO a new phone for Christmas a couple months ago. Walked in the door and was immediately greeted by a woman who asked if I had an account, I said no, and she was very quick to firmly tell me that I could not possibly buy a phone for my SO (who has her own account) if I myself did not have an account. I had cash to buy that phone right then and there, but she didn't want to hear it. The only thing that counteracts the horrendous prices, terrible phone plans, and the constant throttling is the customer service. The majority of the staff are actually very friendly and helpful. TMobile is tons better, though.
